Today I want to see Akshardham Temple.
It is one of the biggest and most intricate religious places of worship ever constructed. Combining several completely different and contrasting architectural styles of Hindu temple architecture of northern India -- Rajasthani, Orrisan, Gujarati, Mughal and Jain -- the Akshardham Monument is entirely constructed of marble and the red-sandstone that Delhi is famous for, and that so many of her monuments are constructed of. It was completed in only 5 years a world record of sorts.
This is a good place to visit.

Its a pain to enter the temple as you are not even allowed water, your personal purse and hence we decided not to go in. People from abroad should keep this under consideration when visiting this temple. I would say in a few words, that the visit was not worth the effort for people coming from abroad
I visited temple yestarday and found that the entry formalities at times disturbing. I too previously once returned when the caretakers told to loose the belts and even deposit mobiles etc., my wife was hungry and we wanted to take our lunch box inside but the authorities refused and to our surprise we found more dustbins inside the temple and lot of canteens charging sky high prices. Its not going to be an average family cup of tea to visit the temple very often.
Even Delhi Metro is not so strick where billions of rupees are at stake for security. After visit it looks a 30 minute moovie has been told in so many halls whereas it could well have been told in a nutshell. Swaminarayan himself being so down to earth and simple but people are leaving no chance to earn millions.
